Lush
A flamboyant restaurant with cut glass chandeliers, ostrich feather covered lights, black and silver patterned wallpaper, and starched tablecloths. We coined the phrase “Zen Baroque” as their descriptor. Elegant typography, almost chiseled from stone, combined with a rich, yet subtly applied pattern convey something of the dining experience. Menus were printed on metallic paper, covers matt-laminated, onto which the pattern was “printed” in a clear spot-UV varnish, gently playing with the candle light. Ribbons with silver thread were used for binding. We devised a customised paper ribbon on which the patron’s name would be printed, which bound each menu. It would then read: “Lush welcomes Mr X”. Although the fine art printers complained that this was their most complicated finishing job, each person arrives feeling special, enhancing their experience of the evening.
